Memories 沖縄の思い出。。。

I spent some time in Okinawa after coming back from studies in Finland in end of December 2002. It was very memorable for me, and although i went there alone, i did not feel uneasy, I felt that Okinawa and Singapore has some similarities! During my short stay, I did not get the chance to go to many places, most of the time i was with Masatoshi (last-time boyfriend, now special person),in his house in Kitana. Okinawa is a place with a sad war history but the people there are forward-looking, positive and friendly, I would like to live there someday, if i have a chance. Maybe December is not a good time to visit Okinawa as the weather is not so sunny and the beautiful sea cannot be seen. But all the same, Singaporeans think very importantly of 21st birthdays, which is coming-of-age into adulthood. I spent an unforgetable meaningful and simple 21st birthday in Okinawa.... I would like to share some photos here with you...they are not very clear but they are taken from the heart...The story... |

After 4 months of study in Finland, Dawn went to Okinawa to see Masatoshi...30 hours of flight...but it was worthwhile.. |
In Tomi House, we eat curry with Cheese! And also mochi?! Curry tastes quite good with cheese actually! |
There is no need to worry about food in Tomi House, mamachan alway buys too much! Okinawasoba, taco rice and spagetti! |

Mama also followed me... | Traditional okinawa cloth are painstakingly weaved by this machine, the cloth are very nice and of good quality. You can try to weave for a small charge. |

That was a compliment, i could not even play at that time. | One of my best photo, it is traditional way of making black sugar, very famous in okinawa. Many deserts are made from black sugar. This lady with the ox...very rural and peaceful. | |

| Guess what this is...Habu. A kind of snake. We went to watch a Habu and mangoose (i don't know what it is) fighting show. But Habu was sick that day...this is perserved Habu used to make tonics and medicines. | Also, my best photo, i was scared of this man at first, he was singing very loudly, but i was so curious, i had to take a picture of him! He is very talented though..i don't know if Okinawa olden days people use such makeup? | Finally, it was my 21st birthday, my name was spelt abit wrongly, "Down" instead of "Dawn" but i was too happy to see the mistake. as i have done. I want to dedicate this page to Tomi Masatoshi, Tomi
